White car...Black polish.

Featured Replies

Quite some time back I bought some `Prima Amigo` polish but have never used it.

Since then I have changed to a metallic white car.

I opened it today to polish the car and was surprised and a little horrified to find that its black!

So my question to you knowledgeable chaps is...being black is it safe to use on a white car.

I have made a little test and it seems to integrate into the paint okay.

Many thanks.

Mike.

It should be fine. 99% of cars now a days have clear coat. So in reality you're not actually polishing the 'Paint' but polishing the clear coat on top.

Exactly what Kalr said above, but if you have any deep scratches in the clear coat you could see it built up and making the scratches look worse.

You'll be fine OP, it's a decent enough filler heavy glaze which flies under the radar nowadays.

It's a filler heavy glaze so won't be any use on deeper scratches and you'll remove any of the carrier (colour) when you buff the residue.

Thank you for that, Chris.

I also have a bottle of `Prima Hydro Max`. Would you put that on next, or go straight to the paste wax...(Chemical Guys 5050)?

Aha ok, personally I'd use one or the other, the finish won't benefit from having hydro max under 5050 - they are probably about as durable as each other so toss a coin to decide...or if you are stuck for time hydro max as it should take less than 5mins to whizz round a car.

Amigo looks just as good on light coloured cars as it does on dark! Let us know how you get on Mike. Hydromax is crazily easy to use, so it just depends on how long you want to spend on the car.

Hello, `Hunty`.

In the end I decided not to use the Hydromax as it can be used on a wet car. I thought I'd occasionally use it as a drying aid and add a little extra protection.

So I went straight to the 5050.

Attached pis shows how I got on.

Thanks for your help and advice...yet again.

Mike.

Sounds like a plan!!

The car looks amazing, Mike. It's difficult to capture that level of gloss on a white car. Well done!

Looks great Mike. Looks like you had the weather for it too!
