Front wheel bearing size?

Featured Replies

Evening people!

Stripped down the front left side tonight ready for the bearing to be pressed tomorrow (finally). Just a quick before I purchase the bearing tomorrow.

In Euro car parts website there are Different sizes in the specs. Wondering if someone could just clarify for me?

Cheers guys!

Who's fitting it and do they have the right tooling?

Gen 2 bearings must not be pressed in by the hub.

Look up gen2 bearing on youtube to see the right way to fit them.

Yes, they do. It's a Skoda specialist based in Cardiff, seen and heard great reviews. This is the reason I'm getting it done by a specialist as it was previously pressed incorrectly. I won't take it to Skoda in Cardiff due to the **** they've given me in the past.

Just need to know the best one for the car without going to Skoda. Price doesn't matter. Just need the specs.

Orbis £51, Lucas £66, Lucas £82, FAG £98 you decide.

Can you not get the bearings from TPS via the place that is fitting them?

Seeing that you are going to a Skoda Specialist they specialise in Skoda's and must know which they prefer to fit, where they buy, or which are the best to fit if you are happy paying.

Cool.

Not sure how long it's going for, but sticking blackfriday in the discount code box just got the FAG one down to £66-odd for me this morning. FAG make (at least some of) the OE ones.

I'm doing all the purchasing myself. All they're doing is pressing it for me so haven't really hassled them too much over prices, prefer to deal with the purchasing myself.

I thought due to them having different disc sizes in the figment details that some would be incompaticable.

Thanks for the help!

Why not ask them what has proven to be the better bearings and if any have been an issue.

ECP'S online product selection system isn't awesome. You put in your car details/specifics and it tends to return every option for every variant of that model, with little in the way of help figuring out which is/isn't really right.

Other factors may be better.

Considering the original bearing didnt last, you might as well get the cheapest or perhaps choose a well known make

In my experience factory skoda front wheel bearings dont seem to last longer than 100k (based on fabia and octavia), which I've not seen on other cars I've had.

The originals never lasted or the ones that replaced then due to being incorrectly fitted.

As Offski just stated, the original had problems after Skoda in Cardiff changing my engine. The replacement had issues due to being fitted incorrectly. This time I'm doing the stripping down and fitting. I sadly don't have the correct tools to press the bearing or I'd do that myself as well. I'm sure this time it'll be pressed correctly.

The only thing that was throwing me is the different measurements under the specs on eurocarparts. I have standard brakes. Going to just get the FAG one. Got it booked in for a 4 wheel alignment Saturday then. Skoda wouldn't press the bearing for me anyway (I checked out of curiosity)
