Lurch on stopping

Featured Replies

Something strange has happened with the car recently that I think may be related to the automatic handbrake.

If I stop the car to park on a very slight incline, it kind of jerks forward a bit when I take my foot off the brake - and it never used to do that.

Anyone else had this?

Have you accidentally knocked the Auto-Hold off?  I think I've had something like this when stopping on my (level) drive if I just roll to a stop without my foot on the brake then turn off the engine - the car is still slightly moving and as the auto brake engages it makes the car lurch slightly as it stops the car's motion.

Turning the engine off switches from the service (foot) brake (green auto hold light) to the ebrake (red symbol) and as it switches from one to the other there will be slight movement. If you stop on the auto brake and switch off you can hear the actuator running.
