Umm... that's quite the security issue, must be something damaged with the wiring in the rubber sleeve between the door and the car itself, luckily you had nothing stolen :peek:

Sounds silly but did you have the remote in a back pocket and sat on it and maybe it's held down the unlock button and the windows have opened.

I've done that once.

Could be the key fob as I always have the keys in my pocket

Think I will be chucking me keys on side in future

Cheers

Almost positively that you have leant on your fob and its dropped the windows....get a man bag ! :-)

It is quite common.

The owners manual tells you how to sync the Fob again for locking, i had to once from sitting at KFC and the fob on my pocket locking and unlocking the car.

When trying to do it in the car park an employee came across and said the cars lights were on and off for ages but there were so many people about he had no idea whos it was.

For the Windows going down of their own accord,

Try a reset with the windows put down via holding the Lock, and Open and cycle it a few times.

There is no doubt a proper procedure but that works for me.

Yeah! it's the 'Total Open' option on the Key/Fob press and hold the open (or close) button and all the 'leccy windows open (or close) and the doors unlock (or lock). Thankfully the doors re-lock after a couple of minutes (an deadlock) but the windows do stay open!!

You'd probly sat on your keys before bed and not noticed!!!

On a side note... There are various ways of extending the range of your fob! especially useful on a very hot day, from across a car park, if you want to expel the hot air from your car before you get there, Stick the key/fob under your chin and press (and hold) the open button... it extends the distance quite a bit, enough for the doors to re-lock themselves before you get there!! :D :D

Thank you for all your advice

The windows have stayed up since I have been taking my keys out my pockets doh????

Andy

I have sat the the key many times and opened the windows. Sometimes I found out since the car relocked and alarm set then something triggered the alarm. At work I park far from the building to minimise doing this but still manage it occasionally.

I don't understand why the range is so great. 3m from the drivers door and rear door would be plenty. If they were really smart the lock could work with a weaker signal than the unlock.

When the ' total open / close ' from the inside door switch and all window operation from the remote and outside keyswitch stopped I traced it to a broken wire in the rubber boot between the hinges, look back to my post. Mileage then perhaps 36K. I don't do a lot of short trips / multiple journeys in one day so typically door only opened 6 times a day.
