Should I swap the Octy vRS for a Fabia vRS?

Featured Replies

sticking fuel in the octy is costing my a small fortune, I've done nearly 30k miles since Sept 04...

Anyone gone from an Octy vRS to a Fabia vRS? regret it?

Also what sort of trade in would I get for a 54 Reg Octy, with 30k miles?

What about a tdi Octy?

I'm allergic to small cars ;)

Although totally understand what you mean about refueling the car :/

I hate filling the thing up, I hate stopping at petrol stations with a diesel I wouldn't have to fill up so often...

a thought I guess, still want something a bit sporty...

although someone at work commented that the Fabia looks like an Old skoda, but what does he know he drives a white Vectra!

Even though I would love a new Octy, I have just gone from petrol to diesel. I wont be going back again unless I have a serious wage increase. My Fabia is averaging 50 mpg around town and I have 69 mpg recorded on a trip to Liverpool with the cruise set to 70 mph. Amazing. :D

If trade in values aren't that favourable, have you considered an LPG conversion? :D

Chris

I shouldn't think you'll regret it - the Furby isn't as quick but unless you spend your life near the red line you'll probably move quicker - under normal gentle driving the Furby is much faster.

The same would be true for a TDi Octy too though.

funny you should mention that, thats my other consideration at the moment. there's another post on here...

Trying to find some info on the net, but not finding much about Octy vRS's with conversions, or any VAG 1.8T's for that matter.

New Octy 2.0 TDI Sport ?

The only drawback here is that I imagine the trade in value for the Octy would be poor. :thumbdwn:

thats what i'm thinking,

but if i get an lpg conversion it would be worth even less in the future?

I'd do it if i was you, the Furby is probably quicker than you think.Ignore the performance figures, 0-60 time is faster than the hopelessly conservative official time!

I get about 45mpg around town,50-60 on a longer run, and it's GREAT at motorwat cruising too!

On average, probably get about 40 mpg out of the Fabia vRS(all town driving).

There is a difference in fuel consuption but I don't think it is huge

most of my driving is to work along 'a' roads, around 50 - 60 mph. what sort of mpg would you get?

You would be into the 50's.

The problem is (and no one will admit it here) the Fabia is too much fun not to enjoy the shove in the back feel as much as you can, hence I reckon most people are really in the 40's

Which is still pretty damn good:thumbup:

The ones getting 50 MPG "around town", clearly dont have to drive around cities as congested as Newcastle!

Ive never seen more than 35 round town. Ever.

If you dont need the space, then there are a lot worse cars than the Fabia out there.

I suspect trade in values are set to take a fall in the not too distant as the new one becomes popular.

- under normal gentle driving the Furby is much faster.

Under very slow driving my horse is even faster :P

If you want a small car, getr a Fabia, but I'd get an Octavia diesel instead.

Octy vRS to a Fabia vRS what :jawsmall: didn't expect that.

Go for it, but what would you get for the octy?

Fabia Doesn't feel like a small car. Also more than enough power.

If you can twist the dealers arm you may be able to swap for less than

Fabia Doen't feel like a small car.

But my luggage and passnegers still 'feel' the same size....;)

No I was nudged in the back by a friendly large estate car. Fabia was resonably OK - estate car was written off - and it wasn't an old car...

Since that time I've always felt safer in my fabby. And there is a reasonable amount of space in it. Yes the octy's boot is huge but the split seats make up for the small boot.

Sorry - just too besotted by mine.

And the Octavia would have to be put back to standard before most dealers would touch it with a barge pole.

No

QED :)
