The Best Way to Add BASS...

Featured Replies

What is the best way to add BASS to a system without adding a sub? :musicears

And I don't mean by turning the bass settings up :finger:

I've got upgraded components running off an amp already, I'm thinking would changing speakers either side of the parcel shelf help at all?

Or is there a better method?

If your really against a sub, then I'd get some 7x10's and a stealth shelf... and amp them if you have any more channels free on your current amp...

Door speakers. My component set is sounding excellent, even when just head unit powered. (Pioneer one though)

replace the HU. It does wonders for the standard ones in the car.

Has anyone read his sig? He's got a uprated HU (a good spec Alpine) and component speakers powered by a JBL amp... ;)

Nah... I answered the question without taking in all the info! :D

Seriously though if thats the situation, then the next course of action is a sub.

Soundproof the front doors,if that's where the comps are fitted. This will tighten up the bass a little.......Fitting a bigger set will help as well.

But other than that, sub is the only way too go.

as above, use some decent deadening on the doors (not just a layer of roof tape, try and spend osme money on dynamat extreme if you can. Otherwise another option would be JBL 6x9 subs on the rear shelf, note these are not normal 6x9s, wont should crap if they are amped but will add some depth to the music.

You could try a 8" sub in the passenger footwell, worked quite well in in my focus for a while, I made up a fibreglass box moulded to under the glovebox, with a grill over the top and then the carpet mats over that

I think it would be possible to remove the rear speakers and replace them with boxed in small subs. Similarly, box in the sides of the boot and fit small subs or 6x9 subs firing into the boot.

Other than that, fit more bassy components. Seen this?

I don't have these components but I am interested... Dunno if interested enough to yank out the JLs though, as I've only had them 5 minutes.
