Remove battery

Featured Replies

Hello. the car in question is a 2012 octavia 1.6 diesel 4x4

I fitted extra led full lights yesterday. i took some hours and i didn't get time to stretch a cable with switch inside the car.

i have been told that its possible to do this from under the battery trough a sleeve?

when planning this to questions came to my head.

1. can i disconnect the battery and connect it later witout any problems with the cars settings?

2. the battery sits tight, how is it held in place and how can i loosen it?

Hope someone can give me some pointers here.

Depends what tools you have?

Assuming you use a wrench extension bar and socket, either a strong magnet on the bar as close to the nut as possible (realise it will not be that near) may help, OR some plastic (carrier bag type) or tape placed into the socket and overlapping the outer edges of the socket so that when you push it over the nut, it traps the nut, it should not fall out.

Make sure your socket is not likely to pull away from the extension bar either. Tape them together if you have to.

If it is a hex wrench then the magnet is probably the better option, or both.

Hi guys my skoda octavia mk2. I hv taken out battery connection and reconnected. So, central locking, windows opening/closing by cockpit are not working....

Wht's the fault is u can tell plz?

Does the front half of the battery box not come out leaving you with room to access the clamp?

Ah I was unaware of that.

Cheers, mike.

My face lift has the plastic box surround.

My 2012 car has the plastic battery cover too.

As for the Windows, fully open them and hold the button down for a few seconds then close them and hold the button up for a couple of seconds. This calibrates the window motors and the one shot open and close will work again.

Mines the same 2012 and has a fabric box too

I've got an 06 and I'm sure it has a plastic box and wee fabric jacket to keep it warm too.
