Park Pilot over zelous

Featured Replies

Hello

Finding the park pilot a bit over zealous. - Starts beeping and moves to continuous tone way before Octavia 2 (Pre FL) did. Very sensitive to stuff at sides even when reversing straight back.

Old system you knew continuous tone definitely meant time to stop, this was more useful than trying to judge how much further to go and work out when it is over reacting.

Fairly sure the answer is NO... but is there any way of cranking down the sensitivity?

Mine is what the manual is calling 'version 1'  - rear and rear corner sensors only.

You might be able to do it with VCDS/OBD11. I asked the dealer to do it when my fronts were coming on too early. Sometimes I'd be a couple of meters away from the car in front when it started beeping. It's almost not sensitive enough now but at least it doesn't beep every time I'm sitting in traffic.

Same for me. I have park assist (so sensors all around the car), and it sometimes beeps for no reason... As soon as I'm parking in a tight spot, it'll start beeping from left and right side continuously as if I was almost touching the cars parked next to me, even if there's still space.

I was told by the dealer that it was a normal thing that the sensors were so sensitive, and I got used to it

I find our sensors to be ok. No matter when they start beeping I can run them to a solid red marker and know that I still have 6" space left.

I have Park assist and will often get beeps from the side, sometimes when passing through a tight gap or if sat in multi lane traffic with a lorry next to me.

Might have a dig around in ObdEleven to see if it can be tweaked to be slightly less sensitive on the sides. The front and back seem OK.

I asked this a couple of years ago but didn't find an answer.  Since then Ive realised the sensors are very affected by rain, dirt and car wax.  Also a wall gets picked up long before a post.  So be careful if you do turn down the sensitivity, you could get caught out parking in the rain with a dirty bumper.

I was coming in to post exactly this ^^
