2012 Fabia combi 1.2 TSI

Featured Replies

A friend is very interested in one, I haven't followed closely related topics but I thought these engines are pretty reliable so I told him that in principle it should be fine.

Anything particular to look out on these? Like items that may fail prematurely or need replacing before the official servicing schedule, weaknesses etc?

Is it a wise option for a car of its class overall?

I have read on this forum that early 1.2 TSI`s suffered from rattling cam chains.

Advise him or her to buy the latest model they can afford and make sure it's had the latest timing chain kit fitted along with the new and latest crankshaft pulley/sprocket that takes the cam chain. Early cam chain kits that were fitted did not solve the problem and it wasn't until VW/Skoda found out the bottom sprockets were faulty that cam chain issues were solved. Other than that you can buy with confidence in my opinion. Great cars!
