Idle difference in Drive/Sport Mode

Featured Replies

Anyone else notice the difference in engine Idle between D mode and S mode when using the DSG?  Its small, but definitely there (see pics below).  It definitely reduces the lag off the line a fraction.  Nice touch IMO

Yup. Noticed it today. I wanted to make an appropriately spirited getaway from a set of traffic lights so tapped the selector into S and the revs rose up a bit. I didn't see what they went up to but noticed the change in sound.

My car is an MY17 - built in June this year I think. I notice a few layout difference between our displays - compass and temperature are also in different positions

One has Trafficsign recognition the other doesent :)

Disable that and the Temperature Display also moves to the middle

DSG usually has inbuilt launch control.  Drive Selector in S, one foot on the brake and floor the accelerator, then release the brake...off you go.   Less noticeable and of any use on a diesel but should be a hoot in the TSI's.

You may need to disable traction control system for it to work.

wrong guess :(

I think Skoda may have changed the software on their DSG Gearbox.  I took delivery of my 2L Petrol DSG a week ago and have noticed a peculiar action.  Regardless if I have it on Sport, Normal or Comfort Mode, if the car is stationary and you have your foot on the footbrake, the car revs are at 800rpm.  However, as soon as you take your foot off the brake, the revs immediately increase to 1000rpm and the car goes forward.

To put the Handbrake on has the same effect by dropping the revs to 800rpm but take it off and it immediately rises to 1000.

Now, this is a bit annoying as, what happens in practice is that when you are waiting at lights, the pressure on the footbrake is not hard enough to keep the revs at 800 and it jumps to 1000.  You end up having to push the foot brake harder than necessary to keep the revs at 800

Can I ask if this is what normally happened or is this a new thing?

Not linked to this post is it ? http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/397830-engine-revs-when-cold-ish/?hl=%2Brpm#entry4605451

Thank you for your reply RickTT.  It is similar but not the same as, on the video, the handbrake is on and the revs are still high where on my car, if I push the foot brake or put the hand brake on, the revs drop.  People are proposing that it is a cold engine and/or a high electrical load but again this is not a cold engine as it still does this after a 20 mile round trip I do every day and I have everything off.

I am wondering if any VAG experts on the forum know how to program this off as it is a pain having to keep your foot pressed harder than necessary on the foot brake.
