Does anyone know what VAG engine designation number is for 2.0 TDi 150ps, as fitted to Superb mk3?

 

It will be something like EA288. Apparently, this engine, 1.8 TFSI and 2.0 TFSI, is subject of recall in USA due to camshaft lobe shearing off.

My 2.0 TDI 150 Engine code states it a CRLB -

Yes it is the EA288 engine, but the US recall is for engines produced in Mexico, so maybe a dodgy batch of parts.

EA288 = 2.0TDI 150

EA888 = 1.8 TSI and 2.0TSI

Honest John has wrong number on Superb review...............says TSI's are EA288.

Is EA288 not the engine series (gen)  and then the engine numbers which follow the important bit ?

I thought the 150 was the EA189 engine series and only the 190 unit was the EA288 series (and needs AdBlue), hence it not being part of Diesel-gate when the 150 was initially?

The CR 140 and CR170 are EA189.

Both of these were affected by dieselgate.

 

The 150 and the 190 are EA288 (In the Octy)

 

The 150 in the 5+ guise doesn't have ad-blu and in the EU 6 does.

Neither versions are affected by dieselgate.
