Boot light and Maxidot Issue

Featured Replies

Hi all, just wondered if anyone could help me.

I've had my VRS for about 18 months now, love it and it's all good.  Recently I'e realised that the light in the boot hasn't been coming on, had to even question whether or not there was one in there in the first place as I'm terrible at being observant for those types of things.  After having a check around, the rest of the interior lights on the car are all working fine, then I've realised that when the boot is open the maxidot image has it still looking like it's shut, when you open other doors the maxidot definitely shows those doors as being open, so it's just the boot.  Has anyone any ideas?  Thanks for any help you can give.

the problem is with the door lock or the wiring to it

All the door locks and interior lights are fine, there's no issue with any of those, so maybe it is the wiring.  I'm getting an interim service early in the new year, so I'll get it checked out then.

when i say door lock i mean the one on the tailgate

The light on the back of the boot, the one above the number plate, works fine (if that's what you meant), it's the ones inside the boot that don't come on.  Like I put, the image of the boot doesn't show as open on the maxidot when the boot is actually open.  Hope it's nothing serious, it all seems to be working fine apart from the lights.

Eddie-NL is referring to the wiring to the boot lock which is used to sense when the boot is open and hence switch on the interior light in the boot and also provide the signal that the Maxidot uses to show an open boot.

So it probably is the wiring then?

Bought a second hand car a few months ago never noticed the boot lights not working untill it was night dash never said boot was open either but it locked and opened fine. I took the boot lid plastic off and it was the wiring and the lock there had been water in there at some point and 2 of the pins had corroded right off i had a second hand lock with the wiring connector attached so put that on and everything works fine now all in took about 20 minutes to do.
