Headlight restoration

Hey peeps, has anyone tried this stuff. Seems to be good value for money.

It would probably be OK on lightly damaged ones, but I adopt a more professional approach.  Wet and dry 1200 - 2500 (building up grades) using an eraser as a small block for even pressure, compound by machine on a 2" wool pad, polish with lighter polish on a 4" foam pad.  Seal with anti-UV sealant. :)  Done quite a lot of sets of lights down my way in Devon.

Hey thanks devonutopia. What brand anti-uv sealant do you use. I'm guessing this part of the process is needed to stop the lense from losing its clarity again.

If you are looking for a kit the Autoglym one is very good...also available from Halfords for added convenience.

Thanks Chris. I might just follow what devon recommended as I have all the gear he mentions. Just wondering about the anti uv stuff.

Factor 30 sun cream maybe??? :D :D

Meguiars do a headlight sealant, but I also find Jetseal 109 is good, and is reputed for anti UV.  It just needs applying relatively regularly (say quarterly at most) to keep it repelling UV.

I was on the CYC website over the weekend and spotted a couple of new Sonax products for this.

Not cheap - but may be of interest to the guys following this thread.

Interesting that sealant is a spray - the meguiars stuff is a liquid in a bottle but is similar in that you apply it to the light, leave it a few minutes to haze, and then wipe off.  Lights are super super smooth once it has bonded.  Yet to know or hear about any long term results of the megs stuff though.

Yeah - i noticed it said aerosol in the description.... and only 50ml of it. EXPENSIVE!
