2016 Multifunction Steering wheel illumination

Featured Replies

I saw on my neighbours 2016 Yeti that the Multifunction steering wheel button illumination is white, all the other buttons (Radio, Climate and switches) in the car were still green illumination.

Is this a one off or is this just skoda not bothering on the last batch of Yetis

My 230 Octavia Vrs is the same. I think its because the speedo/rev counter light is also white

that is poor, that would annoy me

Its been like that for a while now, SWMBO's 2014 Yeti and my 2015 Superb are the same

I thought the superb had white illumination for all the buttons

Can't say I've noticed.

What I have noticed though, is that when I spin the steering wheel when reversing out of the drive etc. I always think of a Catherine wheel! :)

Shouldn’t really post after a long day.

I rarely drive the Yeti, but ours (2014 F/L) has GREEN buttons on the wheel and Columbus etc, whereas my Superb is all white.

Just been out and checked - not the best look is it.

Checked the TT as well. Earlier ones had all red switches and dials whilst mine has white dials which look nice. At least the steering wheel controls are red and match all the other switches and they are more subdued than white.

I think all the switches should be the same whatever colour they choose

I can only think they ran out of steering wheels that had green illumination.

Our 2015 Elegance has green illumination on steering wheel.

May I ask what colour are your dials ( speedo/rev counter )

Thanks

Early 2016 L&K - All buttons on the steering wheel light up white. All dial illumination (including MFD) is white. Everything on the centre console is green. Lights switch on the right is also green.

Dials illumination is white all switches green

I can honestly say that I hardly ever look at the buttons on my MFSW.  Apart from the Phone button, I know where everything is without having to look.  I'd certainly never previously noticed that they are illuminated!  When I made a point of looking yesterday I found that they have a greenish illumination.  The instrument illumination is white.  To me, this is just another example of how VW have lied to us, and I think it's disgraceful that the UK government seems to be doing nothing about it.

Oh no, hang on...I really couldn't care less :)

Does it look like through out the skoda range if you have white dials you get white buttons on the MFSW, if the dials are green you get green buttons

There is such thing as green-lighting dials?

Everything on my 2014 FL Yeti is green (including the MFSW), EXCEPT the dials. Which are white. This has continually irked me since day 1.

If it is possible to obtain dials that light up green then this is the solution.

Don't know really, it was just a thought. I seem to remember green dials in the past, or maybe I dreamed it

It doesn't matter what colour they are but they should all be the same

I only noticed as I walked past the neighbours yeti when he was parking it

I am as Citigopher's Post 12 above

Mine is the same, FL model built May 2015.

I think it was a designer dilemma. They decided to go with white dials and had a choice over going green or white on the steering wheel and I guess that being directly in front they decided to go with white to match the dials.

Personally (being a former designer, though of buildings not vehicles!) I think they made the wrong choice and green would be better to make them more subdued and match the other switches.

I understand their problem though and used to often fret over design decisions where there was a choice especially where there is no right or wrong answer and more than one alternative can be right and just different.

Green can be a problem if you are colour blind!!

I guess that you can still tell if it's illuminated though?

Driving in today I noticed that at least when using the radio and playing music (Amundsen II) that the text etc. on the screen is mainly white and so balances with the white of the dials and as both are looked at for information then that is fine.

Makes me wish that the steering wheel buttons were green even more now!

I used to like the blue dials and illuminated switches in my Passats. In fact a guy on the TT forum has changed all his LEDs and filters to blue, hell of a job.

I'd never do it but I assume it wouldn't be too much of a job just changing those on the MFSW to green?

I was perfectly happy until Eddie mentioned it! Well I still am really. :)
