Really rubbish DAB reception (2015 Octavia)

Featured Replies

So, I've recently started a new job where I've inherited a 2015 octavia se business.

For the first week or so the reception of DAB was great, almost uninterrupted signal.

Now for the past couple of weeks it has been the opposite, with highly interrupted signal, only getting short (seconds) listens to the stations.

The only change is that I have installed a phone holder on the vent above the head unit. So if I have the phone on for navigation it seems to be blocking DAB which just doesn't add up what with the antenna being on the roof at the back of the car.

Anyone else seen similar when fitting a phone to the dash?

Cheers

There's been instances where it was the phone charger that emitted so much RF it obliterated the weak DAB signal. Some other people have had faulty aerial bases.

The charger is a bog standard cigar plug USB with cable to the phone. I've been using it for a couple of years in my previous Focus without issue on DAB.

I'll try a different cable though to try and eliminate it from our enquiries

Best try in the mk3 Octavia section but it seems to be a common issue.

My 2013 vRS estate had shocking dab reception. Where I couldn't get anything at all in the vRS my new car has no issues at all.

I noticed it on courtesy Octavias as well.

Initially I struggled to get any DAB stations and in frustration tuned my Bolero to FM, then I set the stations to N1 network DAB stations and it's been pretty much faultless and that's in deepest flattest Lincolnshire.
