My Occy broke down last night (first time ever though)

no 1st or 2nd gear.

Nice RAC man had a look, and said its internal to the box, then towed me home

I've done the cable reset thing, and still no joy, so am looking at a replacement box.

According to the Haynes Book, it should be a 02J box, and according to the sticker in the back its an AGR engine and EBJ box.

from digging, I can see that there are lots of 02J's around, but not many EBJs...

So;

what other boxes might fit? I'm guessing its a gear ratio thing....any pointers gratefully received

Just had a thought= is an 02M 6 speed box a straight swap?

O2J boxes are 5 speed and the three letter code is the gear ratio fitted. If yours is a vRS they're like hens teeth to find, as škoda decided to run a specific ratio on that model. O2M box will fit but you will also need drive shafts, clutch, flywheel, starter motor, clutch hydraulic pipe, pas pipe, gearbox mount and gear change cables. Plus all the bolts.

There's a vRS box on fleabay for £100 just now. Code is different though - EHA.

Plenty on eBay from £100 to recon at £750

Theres a place in Glasgow who recondition boxes for a couple of hundred pounds, so I'd assume theres someone near you who does similar

According to ElsaWin there are loads of codes that were factory fitted to the AGR engine
