Shipping Damage!

Featured Replies

Thought I'd give this its own thread! The car is generally fine but was suffered some minor damage. Annoyingly I saw the car last week when it was waiting to be inspected by customs and most of the damage has happened since then

It's all covered under my shipping insurance with zero excess but it's annoying all the same!!

This is the bottom of the passenger door

The jetwash/steam clean they did pre shipping has taken off the lacquer from my previous respray when the car was keyed

Damage to the bumper

Scratches on the bonnet

And most annoyingly:

They've "done a kwik fit" on my sills!

I'm happy to have the car back and determined not to get wound up about it as it's really very minor damage.

It's more annoying that the car can sit in Liverpool for 6 weeks, travel 12000 miles and get damaged in the last bit of its journey.

That has got to be annoying ...I know how I would feel if it was mine

Drive it round for a while ...or else you will have to wait even longer to drive it :D

Burn the Motherfluckers!!!!

Gutting :thumbdwn:

Hope it all gets fixed up for you ok though.

Has the back door been resprayed before? It looks very eggshell...

Not the drivers side - but you're right it does!

Mate, that sucks.

Hope you can get it sorted soon without any further problems.

Any damage to the floorpan / exhaust underneath. It looks like that's where they've put the lifting strops or even picked it up with a forklift!!!

No damage at all to the underside other than the sills - I had a good look when I was at the test centre from their pit and their mechanics checked it too. I reckon it was the customs inspectors - they jack it up and slide underneath to check for mud and stuff.

surely they are liable for the damage caused??

The problem is that the car was loaded into a container by one company in Liverpool, unloaded by a different company in Wellington, checked by customs, reloaded by a local transport company and taken to the test centre, checked and taken down the road to a garage where they strip trim and check seatbelt fastenings and stuff, taken back then checked for the WOF (MOT).

So I can't prove which of all thoses did the damage as I only have independent condition reports from the very start and very end.

Best to forget about apportioning blame and just claim on the insurance.

Well I have two quotes - $1200 and $1288 - about 500 quid - so not too bad - insurance claim is submitted so I'll wait and see.

Arggh, what a way for her to end the journey :(

Oh well mate, chin up, it could have been worse! I hope everything gets sorted quickly

Great news! The insurance company have agreed to pay for the lot - paying the money straight to my bank.

I'm well chuffed :)

Brilliant news - always good to hear of a positive insurance result
