Hi there,my cigarette lighter does not work, tried to use my Christmas present today,a digital tyre pump,I've never tried using the cigarette lighter before..

I've checked the fuse and all seems OK..has anyone got any ideas,cheers John..

Check glovebox bulb and interior light bulbs all function.

When mine went it stopped the 12v socket working too.

Could be the plug on the pump & not the socket.  Try the socket with a 'known good' plug-in device.

Tried it in me wife's car,it works fine..

Check that nothing has fallen down into the socket, and is preventing contact by the central pin in the plug.

I've checked inside of cigarette lighter everything looks fine, do I need the car running for the pump to work,or maybe I have to press another button or something..

My cigarette lighter is really temperamental, try wiggling it around in the socket. Mines quite sloppy and struggles to touch the sides *insert lewd comment*.

On a similar vein I have a Skoda Superb Greeline estate..2013 Model.

Rear 12v socket works in boot but neither of the 2 interior lighter sockets seem to work......have tried changing fuse (no 35 at side of dashboard ) but no joy....any suggestions as what to try next ....also how do I get to rear of lighter sockets to see if there is a loose connection or something similar.

Yes, you do need the ignition on at least for the socket to work.

Must depend on model year. Both of mine (front and boot) are on all the time.

 

If you have a multi-meter, check that you have 12V on the centre pin AND ground on the body of the socket. As some have said too, you sometimes have to rotate the plug in the socket if contact is poor.
