take a look at the logos in and about your car, the ones that are hidden on the engine and inner panels etc.. without vw & audi, skoda would still have the reputation of utter tripe like it used too

It's an over-priced VW, so this is about the best forum for VAG group fault-finding. It's whether you want the Octy1 or Octy2 forum...

Lovely looking motor. Good engine choice. Is it Quattro?

Yep, a Skoda with some extra sound deadening and stronger springs behind the switch gear.

The best forum is this one, the faults on the B6 A4 will be the similar to those on the MkII Skoda Superb and the 1.9 TDI engine has been done to death on various threads over the years as it has been fitted to pretty much every single Skoda model.

Ooo.... smidge tetchy!

Looks good, needs bigger rims though ;)

thanks for the replies guys .. if the car is welcome on this forum im happy to stay.. i believe its the b7 model though so which part of the forum am i best suited in if/when i need help?

definitely agree on bigger rims! will have to wait until funds allow though haha

Since the scandal, there is more platform sharing within VAG as a cost containment.

Likely a comfy & practical car as it sits on the rims and tyres it has.

'Audi salespeople will advise to go for bigger alloys as this will help with residuals',

well it is a used car, became a good buy, and as it is if salespeople were not driving perks of the job they would go with the better riding model and with tyres you can touch park with'.

but lets be honest, it would look a lot better on some 18s haha.. i dont want to go too far with it, its still a family car after all.. but some mods like 18s, lowered a LITTLE bit, tinted rear windows.. and then maybe some things like egr delete and decat

Looks nice. I had an A4 in 1.9 TDI guise once. Liked it apart from the seating position - pedals, steering wheel and seat not lined up properly.

I'm guessing that number plate belongs to a different car now? As it shows up as an A3 2.0 TDI S-Line Auto.

They've got a fairly big fuel tank on them so the range is pretty impressive especially with the frugal 1.9.

i think you may have misread the number palte my friend.. this below is a snippet from the gov.uk mot history check .. number plate is FP05 MFK, what did you have?

Vehicle make AUDI

  • Vehicle modelA 4
  • Date first used 27 April 2005
  • Fuel type Diesel
  • Colour Silver

Ah. Yes I thought it was FP05 MFX. Must have been registered at the same place around the same time then or it's a big coincidence that it belongs to another Audi.

So the 1.9 in the Audi was an odd power output. 115ps. First I've heard of that one. They were normally 105 or then 130 but didn't know there was one in between.

And it's 70 litres is the tank so good for easily 700+ miles. Probably much more than that. I used to be able to get 700 miles from a tank in my Octavia 1.9 DSG and that was 55 litres.

that is a big tank! what website are you using to input the reg number into?

That's sort of what I meant seriously; we're a bit lacking in expertise on modding Audis other than remaps.

I've got an app called Free Car Check which gives basic details and then I often use parkers to get more info.

http://www.parkers.co.uk/audi/a4/saloon-2005/19-tdi-se-4d/specs/

Although not always 100% accurate.

It doesn't actually list all the correct details for my car and has the CO2 emissions slightly lower than the actual.

anyone?

The MkII Octavia forum is the best for the 1.9TDI as this was the most popular Skoda model fitted with this engine.

well, after posting there (and the superb mk1 by recomendation) and having no replies, and my topic deleted .. looks like i will need a new forum for this car, any suggestions?

Can always just lash the questions into general car chat.

and start a non-skoda project thread for the car for updates etc

thats a decent idea i think ill do that, hopefully the couple of car specific questions i have could get answered on here.. tried googling but theres that many different A4 models its like a minefield.. so here goes..

- i was considering a decat, but i dont know a 'friendly' MOT tester, and know that these days you can get failed for not having one at all, so i was thinking of taking it off, and knocking the internals out so its like a fake cat almost.. anyone done this?

- EGR delete, i messaged Eric Collins as recommended and he said he doesnt do the kits for my model as it has a funny shaped EGR thats electronically controlled .. wuold it be possible to take the pipe off that connects the EGR to the exhaust, blank off both sides, so leaving the EGR on itself and just clean it out?

- Front bumper, I love the big front grill but want to open it out similar to the way ia widwemouth is done on a fabia mk1 vrs ..basically cut out the full lot and replace it with honeycomb mesh, thus moving the licence plate to the side.. has any done this/seen it done on an A4 B7? I've seen they sell them for the B8 model, but not the B7
