EGR Issue

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know much about the egr valves on the Octavia 1.9tdi engines? I got an engine light saying 'insufficient flow on egr' I had it removed and cleaned but the gasket blew on it and melted some plastic part next to it and now theres a weird rattle noise. Also when I turn the engine off there is a vibrating noise? Can anyone advise what this plastic part might be, I can try get images of the part.

I put a Darkside Developments egr delete kit on mine.

Saves all that crud be g put back into the inlet.

I then had it mapped and they deleted the egr from the map.

Sorted.

No more egr problem.

Having egr valve faulty driving the vehicle won't cause any further problems or should I avoid driving ??

It might give some warnings, limp mode etc. I have suffered from that (on 2,0 TDI common rail engine, though).

Normally it gives a decrease in mpg and rough running.

After EGR remap I didn't felt any mpg changes. Basically the only change was the longer engine warm-up.

Egr went on my 2011 1.6 tdi at 70000, no warning signs just immediately went into limp mode, huge garage bill,no goodwill from either skoda or the skoda dealership, car has full skoda sevice history and the egr is a known issue! Still waiting for the fix but might not bother as im hearing stories about cars running awful after having it done .

sounds like the hot gas has melted the antishudder flap actuating diaphram and its housing ( which is vac operated)      I would take it back and ask them to fix it properly-- don't think the capsule is available seperately but a scrapper may have one
