A couple of wheel/tyre questions for a new Mk III owner

Featured Replies

Hi,

New Octavia Estate 1.4TSi Sport owner as of last weekend. Lovely car and a major improvement on the Octavia Estate Elegance MkII it replaces.

I have a couple of questions relating to the use of my existing winter alloys/tyres with the new car.

1. I've read through numerous threads here and it seems the alloys/winter tyres from the Oct MkII should be fine to use on the MkIII. If someone could confirm that would be great.

Dezent RE 6.5 x 16 alloys with Dunlop WinterSport 5 205/55/R16 tyres.

2. When changing the wheels over I've noticed the new car has tyre air pressure sensors. Will I need to turn that off with the winter tyres? Anything else I need to know when changing over?

That also reminds me that the air pressure warning light has lit already. I was aware of driving over a pot hole the first drive I had in the new car, so assume I lost a little bit of pressure then. I've checked and the tyre/pressure seems fine. I assume I can reset this warning light?

Sorry for the noob questions, and hopefully these arent covered elsewhere.

cheers

Tyre pressure can be reset in Car -> Setup -> Tyres. The system uses the ABS sensor data to monitor rotation rather than directly monitoring the pressures, so you shouldn't have any issues. Might be worth resetting the pressures again after fitting just in case.

Assuming that the Mk 2 stud pattern was 112 x 5, then yes those alloys should fit OK.

Thanks for the replies. The MK2 was indeed 112 x5 so we are all good. Given the weather forecast it looks like I'll be fitting them this weekend ;-)
