WLAN setting in Media

Featured Replies

Hi all

Got my new 2017 Octavia Scout on Monday and noticed there is now a WLAN setting in the Media controls, can anyone tell me what this does or how I use it please? Does it need a SIM in the car somewhere? I didnt have this on my 65 plate car.

Dealer never mentioned it so not sure what it does, or the Smark Link thing either.

Thanks in advance

It is to allow passengers to connect to your car to share your Internet connection by tethering your own device to the car and also allows passengers to control music and nav via the WLAN and app.

Ultimately thought it's pretty pointless as I recall you have to create a WiFi hotspot on your phone, connect to the head unit and then people connect to the head unit, where as they could just connect directly to you.

Smartlink may not be enabled - probably worth checking before looking into it

I never realised that's the process! What an entirely useless option!

Even the media commander doesn't make sense. Why on earth would you unleash your sound system to your passengers?
