Bulbs And Head Unit

Featured Replies

Hi All

I collect my new Fabia on saterday !! Want to get uprated bulbs but not sure what it takes !

Also got me Alpine stereo to put in so how easy is this to do and how easy to run cables to the rear for cd autochanger and rear speakers

Cheers all

Andy

Welcome to the site, Andy.

Uprated bulbs I'm not sure about, but running cables to the boot has been something I've done recently... Involving trim removal, glovebox removal, etc etc. Not a hard job if you know what you're doing and even have help like I did.

PS: There's bound to be threads on here about it, so I shan't go into too much depth. :D

Not sure which bulbs the Fabia takes, and I'm a little surprised Jason doesn't know ( :p ), but if you wander into Halfords and look in the little guide book it'll tell you which bulbs you need.

The stereo should be a doddle - you just need the loom adaptor, and a fascia adaptor to fit it, and to get the old one out you need a removal tool. Which should be available from Halfords, or you can just improvise using any two flat poking deviced which are about 4mm wide. You'll see what I mean when you look at the HU, and should be able to figure it out.

The trim on the Octy is all clipped into place and I'd imagine it's the same with the Fabia. So if your patient and use reasonable force you should be able to get the trim in and out without breaking anything... :)

Rear speakers...are you planning on mounting some 6x9s in the shelf or something?

Rob.

I think the bulbs are H3.

Why would I know, Rob? - It's not like I've ever been fiddling in that area of my car, is it?:D - Thinking about it, I don't know why I didn't mention gearboxes on my first reply... :( - hopefully the memory is fading

It's been stored on here for future generations to learn about, so no chance... :p

Rob.

isnt there an FAQ about what not to do with your car and how to fit headlight covers properly using excerpts from your various posts Jason?

[sigh] :D

As winter's coming, there's every chance, due to higher usage, I'll have that same bulb go again. And you cannot GUESS how much damn time I will spend making sure that damn cover is secure, when I do!

What's that saying? "once bitten, twice shy" - "If at first you don't succeed"

why dont you gaffer tape the cover on or just remove it completely?

Bulbs on Main beam and Fogs are H3's..... Trying to get some decent ones for the other halfs car.....

To add to the above the dipped beams are H7's IIRC! (I seem to have bought bl**dy hunderds!)

Cheers

does any one else find the bulb types for the furbie in halfords bloody expensive or is it me?

They're around
