Jerking/twitching at low speed

Featured Replies

I hope that someone with little knowledge can share it with me!

I apoligize in advance for my bad english, I am from sweden and have been reading here for some time and know that there is a lot of knowledge here.

I have a -11 Superb 2.0 TSI with DSG6. When I am driving at low speed and then give it a little gas it jerks/twitches. It feels like when you drive a manual car and release the clutch to soon. At high speeds it doesnt jerk but can be a litlle slow to react when I give it more gas.

The jerking/twitching is noticeable at low speeds (second gear), perhaps walking speed and a little faster. If your driving like you had an egg under the pedal it doesnt happen all the time. Also sometimes it feels like the car hesitates a little when I give gas, like a delay.

The "gear shift indicator" does not indicate that it changes gear when it i jerks, and I think its smooth when shifting.

Anyone, that understand :), who has an idea on what can be the cause?

There are a few things that come to mind.

First, has the DSG had its oil changed every 60000 km? Not having this done can cause issues.

The other major thing I can think of is the dual mass flywheel - if that is worn it can cause jerky power transmission.

You could also ask someone with VCDS or ODIS to do a reset on the controller. They have learning functionality and adapt over time to the driver but there's always the possibility of this process going a little bit wrong. Doing a reset sets everything back to default settings.

EGR valve?

Is it 2wd or 4x4?

I had a similar issue, although by the sound of it not quite as bad, when I had some new tyres put on my 170 4x4. The fronts were sport contact 5 the rear sport contact 2 When I changed to the winter tyres the jerking/hesitancy stopped, put the summers back on it came back immediately. After a visit to the dealer and some contact with Skoda, the consensus was that the different tyres were triggering the haldex and/or traction control to cut in and momentarily reduce the power as the gears changed

When the contact 2's wore out and I put 5's on all round-it stopped and has never returned

Hi  assuming you have had the oil changed have you tried a DSG reset?

Here's what worked for me on a 96,000mile 2.0tdi, 201 MY option 2 worked for me!

There is a procedure to reset DSG box:

VERSION 1
1 Put your key in the ignition and turn ignition to the on position (don't start the engine!)
2 Hold down the gas pedal pressing the button under the pedal for at least 20 seconds.
3 Let foot off pedal and start car. Be sure that you do not turn ignition off because that will void the reset
(not so sure it still works)

VERSION 2
a. put key in ignition and turn key to the position just before cranking
b. hold down the accelerator for 10s
c. let go of accelerator and turn key back to Off before turning it back to the position before cranking
If the reset is successful you will hear some shifting mechanical sounds for about 1 to 2s from the gearbox.

i did not hear the shifting sounds but the DSG was much better, and as it should be....good luck
