As you've prob seen I've popped on my new alloys, they came with Toyo Proxies (s not r unfortunately).

I was expecting them to take a little while to start giving grip but really surprised by how poor they are at the moment after 100miles - its a bit cold out granted but its kicking in the esp in third, and feels especially nervy on fast bends (which im having to take much slower than normal)

Hoping this gets better with more miles - anyone with similar experience?

My Goodyear F1's have been on for about 200 miles now. Surprisingly they were fantastic even from new, after about 50 miles they felt better than the (rather threadbare) old tyres I had on. And they are just getting better and better, even from cold.

Maybe the Toyo's take a while to scrub in? I'd assume you'd feel something getting better by now though?

My Bridgestone turanza's stick like poo to a blanket.. When they do let go it is unilaterial and predicatble allowing for a controlled drift (although this has been helped by the addition of a strut Brace reducing the understeer).

They are now 8000 miles in and I expect them to go to about 15k before I will replace them (I am a heavy tyre user

Get some Yokos like these. 2,000 miles and stick like sh!t to a sheep's ar$e!

Cold tyres with low mileage on them = no grip anyway.

Mine seem ok. But can't remember what they were like with low miles on.

I found the Turanzas poor tbh, but predictable none-the-less.

My Pirellis didn't feel good till aroung 300 miles - just give them some time!

Yeah.. the roads are crap at the mo.. so tyres have a hard time finding grip... give it a couple more hundred miles for a start.

One thing on that - roads being crap - I actually find the roads more slippery where the eager gritting peeps have got a little carried away, so much junk on the road that you're effectively 'aquaplaning' on the salty stuff rather than actually being against the tarmac with your wheels :eek:

Indeed the roads are nasty, new tyres + cold tyres + slippery road = no grip.

Nearly put mine in a roundabout tonight My R's took awhile to grip fully

There was a artical in our local Rag stating that Road salt damages the road surface so much that some councils are mixing the salt with sugar to try and cut down on the damage. It sort of dilutes the salt. I think that is why roads are slippy and very dirty looking!

Just get and do some wheel spins

:eek: Its not to cut down on the road damage, but to stop the grit (salt) dissolving too quickly
