Electric boot lid problem

Featured Replies

I have an unusual problem with my electric boot lid (2010 Superb Elegance Estate):

  • Boot opens fine using the handle above the licence plate in the lid
  • Boot opens fine using the centre console button
  • Boot opens fine from the key remote

What I can't do is close the lid using the button on the bottom edge of the boot lid when the lid is at the highest position. I have tried manually closing the lid and have discovered that once it gets to about 2/3 closed I can then press the button to complete closing, this is very hit and miss so I normally close the lid manually which is much more of a faff than it would be on a car without this feature. I have tried to set a new opening height by pressing and holding the button for 3 seconds. Unfortunately this only works at a height where the boot isn't open enough to be useful; there is no response (audible confirmation). The car had this option already fitted when I bought it unfortunately.  I believe the electronics can be programmed so that the centre button and console buttons also close the lid, (probably a real improvement!) but wondered if anyone has experienced this problem and knows of a fix?

Hi, Haven't had that problem, but our car (2010 CR170 Elegance like yours) did have both electric struts replaced after 60k miles (servo motor failure). Given that you can close it with other buttons I'd assume the boot lid button is causing the problem, or a CANBUS problem between the switch and the struts.

Perhaps a scan will throw up a fault. Is there any member in your area who has one? While you have it connected you can set up the other buttons to close the lid so its well worth doing.

Good luck.

I've had a similar problem and I seem to remember once you have the boot lid open, you have to hold the boot key fob for several seconds to reset the opening distance. Worth looking at the Skoda Superb manual online.
