Cooling System Sensor - This Year's Coilpack?

Featured Replies

I've noticed quite a few people mentioning that they are getting the little flashing light on their dash indicating that coolant level is low.

My dealer mentioned the same thing when I asked him about it.

He tried to order it, however it is on back order. Anyone want to guess how many thousand of these are waiting for fulfilment within the VAG group?

The only good thing is that it doesn't knacker your engine like the coilpack could.

has been a problem for ages!

Hm, mine has started doing it over the last couple of weeks. First time it happened I jumped out and checked. Coolant level was way above minimum. Turned off, restarted and the light went out. So, whats the waiting time to get one if they aren't in stock? Nothing shows up in VAG-COM (unless I'm looking in the wrong place.

Mine did it occasionally during the summer, then started doing it almost every day when the weather turned cold. There was a definite relationship between external temperature and the warning - it didn't happen after a warm(ish) night.

Took it to the dealer, who told me that "the coolant level was low" - OK, it wasn't at max, but it was well above the minimum.

Anyway, they topped up the coolant (FOC!) and the problem hasn't recurred.

Hmmm funny that - mine did it on Friday - checked it and it was OK - then the light went off - weird!?

I realise this thread's gone cold, but I had the same issue (coolant above 'min' line, so thought "couldn't be that, must be something MUCH more serious" ;) ) Anyway, a couple of glugs of demin. water later, and the problem seems to have gone away! :)
