ive recently acquired a oldish jvc unit its a kw-avx820, gonna fit in my wifes mk4 golf, everthing seems great with the unit, only problem I have is the harness for the av in/out (camera is the reason I need this loom, not to concerened with the rest ,ie line ins ect) isn't with the unit, now trying to locate this part is pretty much impossible as the head unit is discontinued, I found the  shcematic for the unit from electrotanya, and it gives all info regarding the pin assignments, but I'm not sure looking at the diagram which way I should be looking at connector to get right pins, I assume looking at connector pin 1 is top left?? or am I reading it wrong?, but I cannot for the life of me find a 16pin connector plug to make a harness without knowing its type and what the connector is called  ive attached a pic of it to this post, and also connector pin assignment

, also was looking at the pre made loom from the kw-avx800 but not sure its the same, so if anyone knows this too let me know, asked jvc themselves bout this, this was the response

The part numbers to the cables are different but having looked on the internet the part looks the same.

 Part number to KW-AVX820 - QAM1218-001

Part number to KW-AVX800 - QAM1005-003

probs easier and deffo cheaper to make my own though if I get the above info

 

hope some audio/electronics guru can help me out on this

looks to me after getting the 800 and 820 model schematics they share the same harness for av I/O

still cant find the name of the plastic connector type to make a harness

right ive now managed to make the harness I was missing, but I need a little advice on wiring my rear camera, the headunit has a rca connection for the camera and the head unit also has a reverse wire,

now I'm not using the oem camera which doesn't have a reverse wire on the camera, the one I'm using (camera) does have a reverse wire along with power (12v) and camera rca connection

do I merely need to use the head units reverse wire and ignore the reverse wire  and power on the camera and just plug the camera rca to the head unit rca and it will receive power from head unit also when reverse gear selected???

 

Hi I realise that this is a old thread but I have precisely the same issue with my KW-AVX820, did you ever get this sorted on your unit and if you managed to get a plug to make your harness where did you get it from ?

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated
