The "phone" button

Featured Replies

Hi all,

yesterday i I became the owner of a 2011 Superb 1.8 tsi se dsg. So far I love it.

the phone button just mutes the Bolero radio and I can't see any magic box under the drivers seat, so I'm assuming it didn't come with phone software or Bluetooth?

my current plan is to take my Parrot MKI9000 out of my old car and get someone to put it in here, however I would have preferred not to have done this.

So my questions are these.

1. Can I buy the skoda Bluetooth and phone software and have it fitted and how much am I looking to pay.

2. If I end up getting the parrot fitted, can it be done so that the steering wheel radio buttons operate the parrot? Answer calls etc.

Thanks for any help.

andy.

Pretty sure my Superb did something very similar until I'd paired the phone.

It seems this can only be done through the maxi-dot settings so probably worth a look there before you assume you don't have Bluetooth!

Cheers,

steve

The bluetooth module is under a plastic cover under the driver's seat. If you pop off the cover and find nothing, then you don't have a BT module fitted. It's possible to retrofit the Skoda unit: I'd suggest a search of these forums as it comes up fairly regularly.

Looks like I definitely don't have Bluetooth, just a button that says phone????

ive read loads on this forum over the last 24 hours but am still confused. Why do people retrofit 2nd hand OEM units when there are all these aftermarket android products that seem to offer so much more?

not having a go at anyone that does this, just struggling to get my head around it.

is there a downside to these pumpkin, xtron etc kits that I'm missing?

OEM is guaraneed to fit and work plus it's nice and neat.

The only Skoda radio I know definitely has a separate bluetooth module is the Colombus. The Bolero may have it built in - at least one of the OEM radios in the Superb does. Head into the phone menu on the screen by the speedometer and try to pair your phone before doing anything else.

The phone doesn't show up in the menu near the speedometer, just a phone button on the radio head unit.
