Bonnet catch

Featured Replies

after applying WD 40 and fiddling about without actually undoing the two screws at the front my bonnet refuses to stay down. Any advice gratefully received.

erm .

does the catch-lever move, or is it seized?

is the catch bar in the correct position, undamaged?

check the release lever inside the car is in normal (closed) position.

the catch bar is undamaged but when I pull the catch in the car the one in the grille doesn't come all the way out I have to get my little finger or screwdiver in to lever it out of the grille.

I haven't checked if the lever inside the car has returned to its proper position. I'll have a look at that in the morning.

when I was poking about with a screwdriver inside the bonnet catch the car alarm went off is that normal? Is it wired up to the alarm somehow?

If the internal lever sticks then logic says release cable needs attention.

You neglected to say if the catch is seized or not. (The one underside the bonnet).

Hey Tilt thanks for your suggestions. I discovered that the internal lever was stuck in the open position against the carpet in the foot well. Feel slightly foolish that I didn't check this earlier. Bonnet fastens fine every time now.

Thanks for taking the time to help me.
