thanks for the reply, would you recc DSG or manual (on say 2l diesel estate)?

id try both and see which you prefer,i did and chose dsg.

others will tell you different.

Welcome along Gabby.  I've had the manual on two 170tdi Superbs and the box was slick and easy to use however DSG is a nicer box and on balance probably suits the car a bit more due to it size (I switched to DSG on my MKIII).  It can be a little jerky at low speeds however so good advice above to drive both.  Also, the type of driving you do will be a factor.  Lots of urban, stop/start driving might suit a DSG more whereas if you're on the motorway all day, a manual will be just fine.  Good luck with the search and check out the MKII forum as the manual versus DSG issue has been debated more than once!

Thanks guys, this is very helpful

I have a 2012 Superb 2 litre DSG estate. 4 years old, 99,000 miles never had a moments problems. I did have the cambelt changed at 88,000 miles.
