Tail Lights - Superb 3

Featured Replies

I apologise if this has already been discussed - but despite searching I couldn't find anything.

Has anyone else noticed that some Superb 3's have the extra part of the tail light illuminated while others don't?  I've seen two now, one a saloon and the other an estate where the 'extra' bit which is actually on the boot lid itself is not illuminated.  On mine (SE L Exec estate) it is illuminated.  Please see attached photos.

Does anyone know why this is ?  Picture 1 - the section I'm referring to illuminated while it isn't in picture 2.

Is it the case that the lower specc'd cars don't light up but the upper two do?  I can't see any reason for this difference.

Yes you are right. Lower spec cars get different tail lights.

If you look in the pics above, the top light has mirror reflectors where the bottom pic doesn't. In the bottom pic, you can see the bulbs too.

IIRC there are 2 types of rear light, depending on car trim level.

"LED rear lights (extended)" or similar is how it's referred to in the brochure.

I posted some pics of my 'S' Superb a while back showing the lesser lights - non LED.  Mind you, seen them on SE spec too.

The initial models did have separate tail lights to distinguish specification - SE-L above had the inner light.

I recall passing a 66 plate Superb Estate and it didn't have Xenons or LED DRLs but the rear lights extended into the boot.

Perhaps this has been dropped on the latest MY cars?
