Fabia vRS seatbelt

Featured Replies

Does anybody have to slide their seatbelts back, bad returning?

Yes. It was the same on my old Fabia TDI too. Worse in winter (congealed grease?)

yep I do too. bit of a pain at times.

yeah its a pain ....... did wonder if mine were faulty ... but seems

to be a common complaint

No mine are fine, must be cos its newer

Common complaint yes.

Fault with the belt? Not allways,

Fluff builds up on the belt from your clothing and gets stuck in the loop at the top and in the guide behind the trim. This adds enough friction to slow the belt down. Its in you owners manual to keep belts clean and free from dirt etc with regular maintenance,

mine doesnt sometime but I usually find I have either trapped it in the door or its twisted near the bottom.

Fair comment, but I don't think the manual says how to keep them clean. Is it just a case of picking the fluff out of the retraction slot with tweezers? You don't use any wet cleaners on seatbelts do you?

It does give an outline how to clean them, iirc clean soapy water or something.

I only know this as there has alot of belts been changed under warranty that have been rejected due to fluff. Cleaned a fair few since and it does work.

I think this fenomena is also caused by water. Maybe the mechanism gets wet and doesn't function as it should.

Water is not the Fabia's best friend, specially since its designers didn't realize that water flows from higher to lower points. It is a pain.

Best stuff for cleaning seat belt webbing is spray Foam Cleaner from Maplin or CPC. A four quid can will last for ages. Good on leather as well.

Mine was doing this up to about a month ago, seems to have sorted itself out though, as recently it seems to have been working all by itself with no assistance from me.

anyone knows how to take off panel on passenger site to get to the seat belt coil to clean it? I don't want to brake anything...like last time... had to buy new speaker covers when dealing with leaking back doors

cheers

Petr
