Volvo S40 (latest version)...

Featured Replies

Anyone tried or got a diesel Volvo S40, the latest version?

Could consider one of these as quite like the look and seemed nice when I sat in it, albeit the top spec version they had in the showroom (funny that innit  )

Yep, excellent car, based on the new Focus chassis so it rides/handles well & being Volvo its safe, you get lots of equipment as standard and has extremely comfortable seats. You may have also noticed the 'floating dash' centre console bit which although a bit gimmicky all the controls are very clear and logically placed (dont get the wood 'effect' trim go for the Mesh Aluminium which is standard on SE spec). wouldnt bother with the 1.6D (bit sluggish) but the 2.0D is excellent again shared with new Focus and the gearbox feels very similar to a Mazda MX5 strangly!

all in all an underated motor...where have i heard that before?;)

They are quite well spec'd. The 1.8 diesel V50 is lovely to drive if that helps.

Yep... nice car

ive driven the 1.6d which i was suprised at.. its pretty nippy round town.. and cruises on the motorway well.. but push it past 70 and it starts to struggle.

interior was high quality and the sound system was fantastic

Not driven the new one, but just out of interest I used to have the old shape V40 diesel!. What a pile of dung, apart from the heated seats which was nice ;) , this ranks amongst the worst cars Iv'e had although having said that I know that the latest version is far superior. I even took a piccy of it (below) although god knows why!. :P

The wifes boss has just got a 1.8 d , he says its 'nice, but ' He misses his pd150 golf, but he is the company accountant, and tells himself he's got it for 3 years:thumbdwn:
