A 3rd blank cheque arrives; ...

Featured Replies

This time you have to pick a car (exact model) that entered production and you were aware of whilst you were at school. Obviously some honesty is required on the "aware of" point.

So Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7RS Touring. Preferably in white with red highlights.

Toyota Celica Supra (mkII), please... or a mkIII Supra, if none are available.

that's quite a big time period (13/14 yrs) to pick from

I remember walking to school and seeing the boss of the local Ford dealership drive past in a purple 2000gt xlr with a black bonnet. It was just released and the first I had seen.

The one car I wanted so badly as a teenager was an Escort RS Cosworth.....

Peugeot 205 T16

 S1 Lotus Esprit

^^ Good shout.

Lamborghini Countach for me - had a picture on my bedroom wall.

when my wee sister was born ('79)  someone placated my lack of attention and no longer being the "baby" (I was 4) by giving me a matchbox / dinky etc  "Citroen Dyane"

loved it so much I asked my Mum if she would call my new sister "Dyane". She's called Janet.

The other toy car that made me think "I wish my Dad had one of these" was a Talbot Matra Rancho

1990 is the year i shall pick from my school years and.....

Corvette ZR-1

I was about 7, and someone in a tv show had one (or very similar.. i think KITT... but i was 7, so may have just decided they were the same) i then got a red opentop matchbox toy one at my birthday.

I spent the  next 2yrs pretending my peddle kart was one while i drove around the yard at home, and pushed it up the gravel laneway that linked to my grandmothers house. Then pedal as fast as i could and pop a "handbrake turn" into the area in front of our garage. And up 2 planks into my dads general purpose trailer... wonder where i learned that :D

He used to ******* me for tearing all the skids trails through the gravel :D

.......overtook the nr 42 tram heading towards Mont Albert

Hillman Minx, about 1959 which I drove to school.

911 Turbo would do; alternatively the Porsche internal project designation was 930.

KITT (and KARR) from "Knight Rider" were based on a 1982 Pontiac Firebird TransAm.

Ford GT40, original shape - wire wheels, Collotti Box, Fairlane engine.

Maybe not as effective as the later ones but absolutely gorgeous!

Can we all put some pictures up? I'm a visual learner, and if this is a "fantasy car" thread we need to see them.

Anyway I'm spending the 3rd blank cheque on Brecqhou (one of the Channel Islands),

But I will need some wheels to get me and a few blonde friends from the Manor to the beach...

Citroen Mehari, yes? Or you could have gone with a 2CV 4x4.

Its a Mehari - thats right. There was a 4X4 version of it too (with only 1 engine but 12 speeds and a 60% gradient capability).

The 4x4 2CV was for the French army - with an engine at each end!

Opel Manta i400
