Hissing noise and blue smoke

Featured Replies

I drive a Skoda Octavia MK2 1.9TDI PD 05 plate, 130000miles. Yesterday while driving I noticed a sudden loss of power and then the car started to smoke slightly (white-blue smoke).

Also there is a short hissing noise when releasing the throttle pedal especially noticeable when idling and reving.

Today I noticed that the car doesn't smoke at all when driving at constant speed or when idling (some little smoke when starting to move). It smokes only when de-pressing the throttle pedal and produces more smoke while idling than driving. Also the lack of power is still present.

Any suggestions about what the problem could be?

Thanks.

Pop the intake hose off the turbo and check for play in the shaft.

I had the blue smoke thing before on a PD140. It disappeared when I changed the fuel filter. Not sure why as it hadn't been touched otherwise!
