EPC light, loss of power and brakes

Featured Replies

While I was happy that I was gonna change the cam chain set on Thursday with Skoda`s participation

Today I started the car and EPC light was on and also the temperature warning light.

I wanted to go for the closest garage which is 500 metres away, when I tried to move the car, surprises began

the car has no power, when I push the gas, it is going as if there is no turbo and the brakes work inefficient - I also hear when I push the break there was a sound like strong rubbing from one of the tires on the right side.

Could not leave it to the garage as they do not have any time this week

the lights are on, loss of power, and brakes are not working safe, any ideas what is going on?

You need to get the fault codes read. Is this before anything has been done to the car?

A loss of vacuum could explain the turbo and brake issues, but it really is just guesswork at the moment.

Nothing`s been done since I bought the car in September - except for changing tires.

I have arranged towing for tomorrow from my insurance and will take it to an independent VW garage tomorrow for check, the guy said it should be something about the brakes. Luckily, it did not happen on the highway.

It was lastly serviced in Skoda in July, it was showing only regular servicing was done and no issues found.

Let`s see what will come up tomorrow.

and just to add - i felt it like turbo - but I assume it might be about limp mode,

Assume it has to do with ecu module?

Have no idea for now

Waiting for towing will leave it today for check

I felt like one of the brake pads was loose - heard the sound and when i pushed break pedal the car was stopping so late with some sound from the back tires - i had similar issue years ago with different car which was nearly killing me

Will give update today what garage will say

got the call from the garage

they said that the computer shows turbo valve error - they can change with a German part which is not original from Skoda, if we want original it is only sold with turbo like whole set together so it will cost around 600 GBP.

They give one year warranty where the part price is around 140 GBP and around 40 GBP for labor. I will have to accept it, do not wanna pay that much :(

And they checked the breaks, the guy said there was a lot of salt and mud and they could not find any other problem, they cleaned all breaks and tested - saying that they are working fine. Here when there is freezing cold, all the time they are putting big salt pieces on the road to avoid frost on the roads  and you can feel them coming on the tires all the time. I am still suspicious about the breaks part, will have to drive slow and listen to the car for sometime.
