Mk1 vrs Anti Roll Bar Problem

Featured Replies

Hello all Iv been lurking around for a while I brought my first skoda vrs about a year ago now and loving it.

It developed a knocking about a month ago on the front. So over the weekend I jacked it up to have a look why I was under it I noticed I could move the anti-roll bar from side to side and thought it was strange looked on internet and saw the anti-roll bar problems with the plastic bush cracking.

My question is im going to have to replace the antiroll but what do I do Iv looked at Polly and it says that there’s a 18 19 & 20mm options. Also where do I get it from is there any upgrades apart from the 22 Eibach option or is there a gen vag group one that it can be replaced with.

Look forward to hearing from you all thanks

Of the OEM options, the VRS one is already the biggest/stiffest. Wouldn't advise a stiffer front ARB unless you want an even harder ride and more understeer.

Cheapest option (if the collar parts are still attached). Is to reposition them and use jubilee clips or similar to hold them in position.

Kits by Meyle or Febi for 19mm and 20mm ARBs on a number of websites. Exactly which one is "best" or most suited is a small mystery.

Gee Whiz, that ARB is late to the party, my wife's late(ish) 52/2002 Polo, needed its one replacing due to that back in 2006!

Edit:- really up to location I suppose!

Another Edit:- now if you can get rid of these cracked nylon parts, why not fit the mounting bushes from the later version of that ARB, along with a couple of split rings from "whiteline" if they are still available or from another source? Overall cost might be less if you did that.
