Disgusting...glad I drive a skoda

Featured Replies

Saw that thread too - becoming all too common

Yes, very lucky not to have sustained anything else. Desperados will steal anything if they want, vicious scum.

:thumbdwn: makes me more glad I live somewhere this is SO unlikely to happen.

But like what was said, this is "luckily" just aggravated car theft with some nasty treatment to the owner. The ba5tards didn't care about the young family inside close by.

In this day & age, it seems with modern car security, this is becoming one of the only options left for car thieves. :( I'm certainly in that boat, along with most of Briskoda I should think....

That's not good. Poor bloke.

I keep my wheel key in the cabin for this very reason - not that I'm expecting anyone to jack me in a Skoda! :thumbdwn:

Not something you would expect as you get out of your car in your driveway. Poor bloke, he could have been seriously injured. Knuckledusters FFS!!!!????

This is one of the reasons I didn't buy the WR1 i was thinking about. I wouldn't have slept at night, been able to relax parking it in town, or leave it outside my house without fear of it going. I'll keep my diesel shopping car thanks.

I genuinely feel sorry for the guy. Doesn't matter what car he drives, that's just totally unacceptable

Suppose living in a slightly more quiet area isn't such a bad thing after all :(

Poor bloke, thats pretty darn bad :(

At least he didnt sustain any bad injuries, but I bet it still bloody hurt

This is exactly why I prefer stealthy cars... which is a shame, because I love to see a nice car with good bodykits and the like.

Edit: As usual for these types of thread, all the macho BS comes out of the woodwork... as if having a weapon in your car would help when you were attacked with a knuckleduster when you werent expecting it!!!!

Because every car jacking occurs in this exact way - never at traffic lights, and road-rage doesn't exist.

If you'd ever worked in haulage and seen/heard some of the things that happen on our roads you'd do the same.

About 7 yrs ago a friend of my Mum's had his LDM WRX Scoobie stolen at gun point after some guys followe dhim nearly all the way home before forcing him to stop.

At the time he had the thought of saying "can I get my coat from the boot, its very cold" and they allowed him to get his coat and bag from the boot before leaving him at the roadside with the previously stolen Citroen AX.

Still. At least he got his picture in The Sun

Trouble is these guys are after any car with a bit of performance and a boot so unless you take subtlety to the extreme and debadge your car/make it look like a slower model, then you're a target....

One reason I'll stick with my slow old repmobile ;)

Haven't Subaru just produced a toned down version of the Impreza (looks wise- hasn't lost any power)?

True... but then try and use a weapon against them, get it wrong, and you will likely pay with your life. Is it really worth it ?

As for road rage, anyone tries to kill me, I'll mow them down.

Perhaps, but I'd rather put up a fight than just let them have it!

Mow them down eh? Does that constitute macho BS I wonder

That is indeed correct. Impreza Spec D :D

A guy who lives near me who owned a Scooby was followed home from work, about 6pm, got out of the car and was confronted by two masked scumbags, he ran into the house and locked the door....you would have thought you were safe then...they kicked the door down beat him unconscious and took the car anyway. I can understand everyone who says things like I would keep a jackhandle, wheelbrace etc in the car but in reality you are so surprised and shocked by what is happening to you, you don't have chance to react as you would think you would in that situation.

I know that from experience as 3 years ago we had a local scroat follow us up the drive throw a brick through the back door window and take the keys to a brand new vectra, good thing was they knew who he was and caught him when he went to sign on, along with the keys to an Audi TT and a mobile reported stolen 4 hours earlier. He got 2 1/2 years, the stupid git would not have it for the burglary ( fro which he would have got 6 months) but admitted handling our car....for which he got 2.1/2 years as handling is considered a more serious offence!!

Don't think that driving a Skoda makes you safe from this kind of thing. The Octy vRS has quite a reputation now. Thieves tried to kick my front door down a couple of years ago. The police reckon they were after my car keys.

Thats what insurance is for. A car can be replaced. A life cannot.

Haha, yes thats terribly amusing. The fact is though, I would. If someone got out their car in front of me to potentially endanger my life, then I'd have no hesistation in using my most potent weapon against them.

If that makes me macho, then so be it. I think it makes me clever.

I found it rather amusing tbh :)

Still don't think its got anything like the Scooby rep or "coolness". Although, very few people are completely safe on this, no matter how crap your car is since people can knick your car for a variety of reasons including:

a) selling on - anything with style / money involved including Porsche, Merc, BMWs, Audis, Scoobies.

B) joy riding - Scoobies, Evos, hot Fords etc and anything "cool" (plus the odd Skud).

c) use in robberies - anything understated and quickish.

Its one of the reasons that I like my Octy - its quickish, but not too cool and (being yellow:D ) isn't too understated ..... whereas a few years ago my blue Sierra 2.0 got knicked and used in an armed robbery and then set on fire - police said it was ideal material for that sort of thing :(

Damnit, no one tell them where i park the Passat...

It is becoming increasingly a common threat though. Colleague of mine was relieved of his car as he pulled up outside his hotel on a business trip - thought it was the "valet parking"....so just calmly handed key's over.......muppet.

I found it rather amusing tbh :)

Simple things....

Simple things....
Maybe its called having a sence of humour Paul, you tell me.
