Star Performance

Featured Replies

Hi there

This is my first post on the forum. I got my Octavia 52 plate VRS in July and was over the moon with it but I hasn't seemed as quick for the last few months and after reading a few things on here about MAF problems etc I was convinced that there was something wrong. Fearing for the car's life taking it to a dealer I decided to book in a trip to Star Performance after reading good things about them on here.

When I got there Jim Curley really looked after me and took the car for a road test, but he thought the car was fine and said I'd just got used to it. He put it on the rolling road and diagnostics to prove it and I was really surprised by the results, the car is totally unmodified and was putting out 197 bhp. I was baffled but Jim said that the engines get better with a few miles on (42,000).

I decided to get the car fully serviced whilst I was there and what a difference it made, it wasn't due until 2007 because of the schedule it was on but I decided to take it off that and put it on yearly. I feels much more responsive and a lot smoother.

I would recommend Star Performance to anyone, Jim certainly knows his stuff and offers sound advice.

Hope this was of some use to the Scottish Owners and the Geordies (like me) as an alternative to your current dealer.

Take Care

Couldn't agree more. I had my Octy remapped by Jim last year, and it's going in this weekend for more tweaks. I also get it serviced there:thumbup:

Mine put out 188 bhp on the rollers before remapping - only 5000 miles on the clock then, though.

Are you coming to our first Scottish meet on Sunday? Come and meet some of the gang :) :) :)

Is it at Star Performance?

Will see if I can get over there, going back to the Toon at the weekend so will see what time I get up the road.

Did you get the switchable program? Have you had any problems since getting it done. Did you notice a big difference from standard? Sorry for all the questions.

I was really really tempted but thought I'd better treat the engine first before putting any more strain on it.

Take care

No, it starts at Stirling click

I got the switchable remap - it's never been back to standard, though

No problems of any type - just a lot faster! :D :D

Aw right, can't make that I'm afraid, will still be in Newcastle.

I think I need to give you a THANKYOU as well, reading the threads on the meet I see that you are going to see uncle Jim about your exhaust etc, but was it you that was supposed to get it fitted last week but the parts didn't come?

If so, I was at Star when he phoned you and turned out that he managed to fit me into the slot your job had. So at least something good happened from your supplier letting you down, Cheers! http://www.briskoda.net/forums/images/smilies/B_thumb.gif

Maybe I'll see you up there some time.

Hope the new bits go on okay.
