Diesel software update done.

Featured Replies

Rules in France a bit different to the UK re the emissions update. Having it done is not compulsory but you can't sell the car apparently unless it has been done, they give you a certificate when it is finished. So had it done last week and.... no apparent difference, instant read out for fuel consumption is the same over 500 kilometres which I know is hardly a good test. Power seems about the same or if there is a difference I can't tell. I think your mind tends to play tricks making you perhaps imagine things and it does seem very slightly coarser if anything. Time will tell.

Are you selling your car right now? Otherwise - what was the point of doing the fix??

I have no problem getting mine done when they do release the update...

I have a good relationship with the dealer and asked him outright about issues.... he advised that 99.9% of the cars they have done have been fine.... and I believe him, I have known them a long time and they have always been 100% upfront with me... on anything I have asked... They even said when this started if we have issues we will tell you....

I know 3-4 people personally that have had Audi's done and had no issues at all...

What you need to remember is that cars going back to 2008 are being done, so at an average of 10000 miles a year you could have a car that has done 160000 miles.... issues that appear may have been there a long time and this has just made these seem more apparent... nothing to do with any fix.... PLUS all those that want to try to claim HAVE TO FIND AN ISSUE! no issue no claim ....

I have had it done now because in the not too distant future I will be selling it and therefore why not. If there had been a problem with power for towing the caravan, then I could make the decision early to swap it. Its OK for you Jafo, you don't have to have it done and if that was the case here I probably wouldn't have, as it is, it's done, the car seems fine so no problem.
