I'm new to Skoda and the Yeti and wanted to find out what service items are undertaken for each annual service.  Mine is a 2016 model. Can anyone help?

Firstly we need to know exactly what engine and gearbox you have and secondly what service regime the car is set to, fixed or variable?

Its on a fixed schedule and I have the 2.0 diesel DSG 150 SCR engine with Adblue.

^^^ That is your basics, Minor or Major Servicing mainly Oil / Filter & Filters, Checks / Levels etc. Fixed or Variable.

The stuff that costs plenty are more vague and you need to check, DSG / Haldex Servicing 40,000 miles or what ever, Brake Fluid Change at 3 years and 2 yearly, 

then the Up selling Items, Discs / Pads (80% worn!!!!) and A/C Servicing that the Service Desk will tell you are recommended and best changed / serviced.

 

PS.

Sorry i see the prices are in Maintenance.

My Yeti (4x4 2.0 diesel manual 150 SCR) has just hit 40,000 (2.5 years old). To date it's had three services at 10k intervals, the last (minor ~£150) being May last year.

 

So what's meant to happen at 40k? The major (~£280) service? What's the deal with the Haldex 5th gen servicing and brake fluid changes? I'm going the phone the garage in the next day or so but just want to know what they should be saying!

You could probably postpone the brake fluid change and get it done with the MOT at 3 years.  Brake fluid servicing is primarily time dependent.  However, the Haldex is distance dependent so would be sensible to do assuming the distance recommended for yours is 40k.

If you only run your air-conditioning intermittently, it might be worth getting that recharged, especially if you noticed being less effective in the summer. 

Our local independent tests the brake fluid and changes it when required. In my wife’s Fabia it lasted 4 years, before I had it changed as a precaution but may  even still have been ok then.

Testing Brake Fluid for H2o Content was common in the Motor Trade when there were Motor Mechanics and Mechanical Enginners.

 

The thing with Manufacturers warranties and extended ones is the T&C's on following Manufacturers Service Schedule / Guidelines.

These used to be Brake Fluid Change first at 2 years then every 2 years, then changed to First at 3 years and every 2 years.

that makes their T&C's suit the Warranty Provider?**

 

The next thing is that Dealerships and Manufacturers Service Plans often do not follow Manufacturers Service Schedules / Technical Guidelines 

or even make Owners / Keepers / Customers aware of these Servicing & Maintenance Schedules / Technical Guidelines, 

Fleet being more important to the Manufacturer than those buying a keeper with their money.

 

So for A/C, Brakes, Haldex, DSG, Cam Belts / Timing Chains, Alarm Sirens etc etc you need to check your World Region and Schedules / Guidelines 

and do not Expect Manufacturers or Dealerships to explain or give notices or warnings.

Spoke to them today they said Haldex and brake fluid are both 3 years on my car and to have them done with MOT (July 18). The 40k service this month will be a major service plus A/C.

Surely the Haldex service should be on mileage like the dsg gearbox, not time.

If it isnt used the oil will not deteriorate in the Haldex unit.

I thought it had been stated previously in threads as at 30k miles, which could well be 3 years for some. My car, though,  will have reached that sometime in its second year, and I dont want to risk a failure.

I recognise this is an old thread.  However, by way of an update and because Haldex servicing is a continuing issue and probably will be until VAG recognise the need to do it properly, i.e changing the filter or cleaning the gauze strainer.  

 

These are before and after service pics of the Haldex 5 gauze strainer from my wife's Karoq 190 TDI at just over 2 years old and some 20k miles.  I leave you to draw your own conclusions.
