I live in France but due to the scandalous cost of having a tower fitted here (1,300 euros!) I ordered a Westfalia one from a Skoda dealer in the UK who were also able to supply the correct wiring for a left hand drive car. Even delivered here it was half the price Skoda France wanted for the parts.

 

I intend to fit the bar and wiring in the next couple of weeks using the very helpful guides people have left here.

That then leaves the question of coding where I have three choices:

1. Go to my local friendly French main agent who will probably be miffed that I bought it elsewhere.

2. I am back in the UK with the car for 2 weeks at the end of March so I could go to a Skoda dealer in the Cheshire area.

3. Find someone else who has the appropriate equipment and skill in the North West when I am back.

I would prefer option 3 because I don't want the hassle of having to decline the dealer doing the emissions update. Can anyone recommend someone in the Cheshire area (I am willing to go to say within 30 miles of Warrington) who can do the coding for suitable recompense?. The car is a LHD 2012 Yeti 2.0 tdi.

I don't feel so bad about what I paid for mine now...

Might be worth having a chat with the dealer near (I think) Cheshire Oaks and see what they will do for you. Others have reported good things about them, and at least 2 members have bought cars from them. Otherwise try North West Towbars who have a good reputation.

 

When I had problems with PFJones's agent coding my car, my dealer charged me an hours labour to do it.

Jamesinfrance - It might be worth checking the VCDS map to see if there is anyone in that area that will do it for you.

Think it was £70, but I do have a good relationship with my dealer so i suspect I got a discount, as they apologised about the figure.

northwesttowbars.co.uk fitted & coded mine perfectly, they are about 20 miles from Warrington must be worth a phone call.

If you are going through there at a suitable time then I wold book it into a place I know near the A3 south of London, in Horndean. I have had 2 towbars fitted there and they have done both in less than 2 hours each time. Including having the removable panel fitted into the bumper for a removable bar.
