Unusual Noise

Featured Replies

Hello All,

Drove my car out of work car park last night and the same tonight, i pull of of my space turn 90 degrees left then 90 degrees right, drive about 20m in a straight line, then 90 degrees left again and onto the main road.

What i noticed was when the car was going left (not on full lock) there was a rubbing sound from the front offside wheel, similar to that of a puncture and a tyre rubbing.

I stopped and took a look nothing loose i could feel, nothing wobbling and the noise stopped. It didnt do it when the brakes were warm as i went to a car park and tested it again just now.

Any ideas? could this be the brakes binding?

Regards

SJ

I had a similar problem and posted it on here some time ago.It turned out that rubber beads had appeared inside the front tyres and were making the noise. It was a rubbing noise just like you described. If your front tyres are not very worn and you cant find any other explanation then have a tyre depot take the front tyres off, shake the beads out then refit them and this should solve the problem. At the time I was quite relieved because I thought it could be brakes/driveshafts or wheel bearings.

Tyre beads? What exactly do you mean? the tyres are ok and not very warn.

Cheers for the reply

Small rubber beads that accumulate in time inside your tyres and make the noises you describe especially when going round corners.Dont know how they accumulate-maybe as a result of the tyre rubbing on the rim over a period of time.Like I say I had exactly the same problem and was quite worried.Changed the tyres and there were loads of these little things inside the old ones-never had any problems since
