Good one. Great addition. Was ridiculous that a mfsw couldn't be factory ordered on the early FL manuals.

Your must have been the exception lol

I thought this Greg after having the Superb and Passat, no dimming rear view and no auto wipers!! Even my 14year old Passat had those.

I will be adding that wheel at some stage but for now I have bought an auto lights kit and Android double din that should satisfy a few toys for now ;-)

Dimming mirror and auto wipers are an option on the vrs.

You can retrofit most things on the mk2

Just surprised a VRS being a higher model doesn't have them, my Passat was only a Sport model but did.

How hard are they to retrofit?

It requires a new screen sadly and a few other bits.

The vrs is built on a lower spec Base car hence the lack of standard kit.

I've managed to retrofit nearly everything available since I've had the car.

A list of what?

Sorry retrofits, sure Gizmo would be interested too.

Some great mods on yours @tubbytommy

but tbh I'll be doing very little to this

couple of more things...

Columbus Dab

coilovers/springs

and fit and code the maxidot

problem is both are £700+ each so it will be a while lol

Edited by gizmo98

Maxidots do exist, but are incredibly rare and hard to come by. I've one sat here to fit when I get the time to visit Eddie-NL.  It's the non vrs early firmware too so it's still not ideal :/ I'm hoping we can swap the faces and re calibrate the needles.

DAB is my favourite retrofit I have to say.

A Columbus with bt, mfsw and maxidot integrates very well with the car.

Dab Columbus can be had much cheaper than £700. You could nearly knock £300 off that price, but you'd need a DAB aerial on top.

I really wouldnt bother with new parts.

rustynuts supplied my dab columbus and it had no issues but i have no doubt he would of sorted any if they occured hence he is the go to guy on here for columbus related info.

same goes for anything else you fit, nearly all my retrofits have been second hand parts and i have not encountered any problems.

Good grief, someone with LOADS of money to burn -  a BRAND NEW Columbus????? Have you got the slightest idea how much even a nonDAB Columbus is new? Hmm, thought not!

I too have bought a DAB Columbus from Rustynuts, and can't recommend him highly enough. Friendly service, perfectly legit source of units and great aftersales help (and makes a cracking bacon butty too). Probably looking for a further DAB Columbus for the other car, and I certainly won't be looking anywhere.

WOW - just had a look at ETKA - a brand DAB Columbus (part number ending 686) is now £2396.53 PLUS vat = £2875.84. I can see someone having a rethink there

you think I've never bought a RNS/Columbus before and don't know the price of them?

This will be the 5th in 4/5 years !!

And yes I know the price of them new

why are you defending Rustynuts?

no one said anything about him or his RNS',I was talking to him about his units?I honestly don't care if you buy 20 of him

ohh and for your information I've bout a 2017 one,as they say .............money to burn !!!

I'm defending Rustynuts because he is a genuine and respected bloke on Briskoda, selling genuine units at realistic prices, with an assurance that all will be quickly sorted out if a problem does occur.

You said nobody said anything about him - read tubbytommy's posts above again.

Hope your 2017 unit serves you well - I'm happy that my 2015 unit will work just as well, especially knowing what it cost me.

As for the last statement, no need whatsoever - PERSONAL insults are not necessary or acceptable......
