Yeti Business Edition - no off road button?

Featured Replies

Posted a couple of times today as I am trying to help out a friend who is pretty desperate to get hold of a Yeti with a number of features.  Just when we thought we had found everything we noticed that this particular one (SCR Business model) has no 'Off Road' button on the dash.

What does this actually mean please and is it a particular disadvantage?  Seems strange.

It means that the car is not fitted with the 'offroad' assistance feature, meaning you can, for example, go down a slope with feet off the pedals and the car will maintain a steady slow speed.  Useful for off-road but not that much on road.  I don't have it and have never missed it, but then I rarely venture off-road and when I do it is only a light green lane or muddy field.

It also modifies behaviour of the ABS, stability control etc for use in conditions such as snow, and it dulls the throttle response so if you're bouncing over rough surfaces, your right foot doesn't keep applying unwanted throttle input.

I've only ever used it when there is significant amounts of snow on the road.

Forget about the 'Off-road' button , get the 'Hill Hold' feature if you can , it's excellent

I don't think this one has either, or the TPMS so I think we'll pass on that.

I thought we had found one yesterday to be honest but closer inspection revealed no DAB radio which is a shame as, price wise, the next available ones with it on appear to be around £3k more expensive. :-(.

Is it a Yeti Diesel 4x4 DSG that he wants and needs?

What budget does he have?

  • Author

Yep that's the one - 150 BHP. He wants bells and whistles so leather, heated seats, DAB, not too bothered about Nav. Silver preferred colour but blue and grey are also ok.

Budget ideally £17k.

Have you looked at

4 possibles come up with a simple search, under £18,000, Yeti, diesel, automatic, silver, 2015 on.

Have you checked out what is around the country with Skoda Approved Used Skoda's?

  • Author

Yep I have done the same search but with the list he has there are actually none within that price bracket so I can only assume that there was something missed off the search criteria you used.

Yeah I have and struggling really.  I may have to look at other makes as well.

Maybe.

nationwide Skoda Yeti diesel automatic 2015 on leather 4x4 under £18,000  silver

I just never put in DAB

So none of those 4 are of interest?

Plenty of alternative Small AWD SUV's around, just not a Yeti though so a different kettle of fish really.

No - as I said above he wants leather, heated seats, DAB, off road and all that stuff and none of those have all of those options.  That's the issue I am having - finding that combination for under 20k is proving nigh on impossible.  At 20k I think he'd look at others.

Thank you for looking though.

You are looking at Asking Prices, which is not the same as what you need to pay.

So it matters if you are looking for a straight purchase or to trade something in.

Lots of Dealers Asking price Mid March is not want you will be able to buy a Diesel Yeti for possibly in April.

Why is the 4x4 important & the 'offroad button', and diesel, is the Yeti going to be towing?

  • Author

Definitely will be trading something in and the list of 'must haves' is simply because he wants a long term purchase to cover all potential scenarios.  The 4x4 is important as there will be some light off roading and also there will be frequent trips to some places in the winter where the weather is pretty tricky so the car will be equipped with winter tyres.

There may be some light trailer towing/mountain bike carrying but the mileage alone, at around 15k+, is enough to justify diesel really.

He's pretty particular about his cars - you may have guessed :-)

Worth checking out a Nissan X-Trail or maybe a Kia Sportage / Hyundai ix35.

I'd suggest looking for one with the Heated Windscreen as well Paul (unless he likes scraping the ice off it) ;)

We did, I think, and he obviously trusts you.  Where is he doing his own searches, I wonder?

No need to wonder. He's abroad right now.  But when he gets back he'll be looking in the same places as me, I suspect....

DAB is narrowing your search because it's an option on all but L&K and Business Editions.  And heated leather restricts you to Elegance/SE L or L&K.

If he wants a diesel-hold back they will plummet in price as people face an extra £10 per day to drive them into cities!

You know, that's the conclusion I have drawn too.  I have found one without DAB and Nav for just shy of 17k and one with for just short of 20k.  Big difference isn't there?

£3k is a lot for Planet Rock. :speechless:

If the DAB radio is a deal breaker he could fit one of these

http://www.pure.com/car-audio/products/highway-400

£160 plus fitting.

Yeah I've seen those and they do look good so I'll put that to him.  Personally I'm not a fan of after market stuff but not my call. I guess it is an option though so thanks for taking the time to suggest it.

As an aside I went to a local dealer yesterday to have a look at a Yeti and, purely by coincidence, I spotted a lovely Octavia VRs which took my eye.  I am not 'really' looking to change mine as my car needs to be able to lug sizeable loads about so I need something big enough. This also includes swallowing a mobility scooter from time to time that would need to fit in the boot.  It would also need to fit two bikes inside if again only from time to time.

Are Octavias' boot openings wide enough for that and does anyone have experience of carrying bikes inside?

Sorry for the change of subject - this is what happens when I go looking at cars ;)
