Damaged Gemini Alloy

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Had 1 of my Anthracite Gemini alloys damaged by a tyre garage yesterday. Still waiting on a call back to arrange it being all sorted, but the manager did indicate they'd look to replace the alloy rather than trying to refurb since they are diamond cut. Has anyone replaced 1 alloy and left the other 3 used ones intact? If so, did it stand out compared to the others? Concerned that the new one will look odd compared to the others due it being brand new when the others are 3 years old and may have faded slightly?

Any thoughts?

Cheers

They were in very short supply a few weeks ago, some users mentioned on here.

Refurb might be a better option. Just make sure they use a place thats good.

My local dealer could get them for £334 inc. VAT in a few days. Would rather have a new wheel ideally as it would eliminate the possibility of a poor refurb, and issues further down the line if the finish starts degrading. Suspect the garage is going to be in for a shock though at the cost of a new wheel...

I had a brand new one fitted the other day after some w@@kbag drove into my car and then vanished.  Makes my other 3 look quite tatty in comparison when viewed up close, but from a distance it is ok.

Thanks for that. Is there any particular reason the others look tatty by comparison? I.e. Kerb damage, whiteworm etc.

Previous owner had successfully scuffed them!

Ahh that's a shame :(  Thankfully, the previous owner left mine in perfect nick, so hopefully should be ok. Just makes it all the more annoying when I see the damage from the tyre garage

I may have to look at getting one too. I successfully kerbed one on a diamond edged wheel and tyre cutting kerb. Didn't hurt the tyre thankfully but got a good 75% of the way around my wheel with scuffs and gouges.

Not sure if they're too deep to be re-cut out, I'll wait until I put the summer wheels back on and make some enquiries.
