iPlayer Radio on Amundsen MIB2

Featured Replies

I play iPlayer Radio recordings via my car radio's Bluetooth from a Samsung Galaxy S6 and although playback is OK all I can control from my car's radio is pause and volume up or down.

I recently used an iPhone for the same purposes and found that I could fast forward/backwards through programmes and change to another iPlayer Radio recording from my car's radio - can the Android version of iPlayer Radio be persuaded to do this?

The problem is not the app but the phone, I am guessing the Galaxy S6 does not support the required bluetooth protocol to allow control and the iPhone does. The protocol/profile for controlling remote bluetooth devices is known as AVRCP. The iPhone fully supports AVRCP, not sure on the S6 and Android.

Thanks, I suspected this but wasn't sure. I wonder if there is another App that can persuade the S6 to do this.

The problem is the hardware chip inside the device rather than App based.

Bugger!

Looks like a new phone then! Any idea which phones do support this?

Not sure to be honest on the Android side of things, it looks like the S7 and S7 edge have issues with AVRCP as well.

Can set the AVRCP on the media settings screen of Amundsen. Recorded content on my phone plays OK and I can control it recorded content from the BBC iPlayer Radio APP plays and I can start and stop it but no rewind or skip to next recording. It must be the BBC App and the DRM stopping what I want.

If you're willing to change phones to get this to work you could always buy an iPhone ;)
