1.2 oil leak

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Couple of days ago I noticed a tiny bit of smoke from under the bonnet at the end of a journey and a sudden rather nasty burring smell coming through the vents.

Looks like there is a small leak from around the oil filter cap area and I'm guessing this dripped onto the alternator to cause the smoke and smell. Does this sound likely to anyone or should I go hunting elsewhere for a different cause?

Have since tried to remove the filter cap (black plastic one) to check the seal and change the oil + filter as it needed doing anyway but its stuck solid. Any tips on removing this with anything other than more force? I using a 36mm proper oil filer wrench so don't think the tool is at fault.

Also is it worth buying a new oil filter cap as I'm guessing the threads on this one may be buggered? Had a look on parts websites/ebay and there seem to be none for my car. All the ones I found on ebay seem to be for diesel engines, are they the same on all Fabia engines?

Car is a 1.2 12v 2006 Fabia.

Thanks

Matt

I think the oil filter cover is part number 03D115433B

Try undoing the cap when the engine is warm, if you haven't already.

Hello. I m new on this forum, and i have a Skoda Fabia Sedan, 2006, 1.2 Bme, 47 kw. I changed 2 times the front crankshaft seal (Oem), but still leaking. My mechanic says the oil came up to down, and is not faulty the front crankshaft seal. Can be the oil pan gasket with problems, cap of distribusion? Any advice will help me. Thank s, and excuse for my english.
