HELP!! Dash pod removal?

Featured Replies

I have just taken the dash pod out of my Fabia (2001 1.4 16v) to look at a faulty LED.

On putting the pod back in, the car now won't start. The immobiliser warning light is on and if you leave the ignition on for 30secs a red triangle lights up as well accompanied by a beeping noise!

What have I done? I have tried putting in the 4-digit code into tthe pod to over-ride the immobiliser, but it seems to do nothing. If anyone can help, I would be deeply greatfull as the car is stuck blocking my drive!

How have you put a four digit code into the pod? VAG-COM?

Have you checked the plugs?

Oh and welcome to Briskoda!!!

Sounds like you either need to recode the keys with VAG COM or something isnt plugged in.

(much as Stu has said above)

I've put the code in using the oddometer reset button. I don't have VAG COM. Do you normally get this problem when the pod is removed, or is it more likely to be something i've done?

Can I bypass the immobiliser to get the car mobile again?

Thanks for your comments.

I've never heard of being able to input the immo code using the oddometer button.

If you have lost the coding for your keys then you need the four digit code for the keys which it sounds like you have, someone with VAG-COM or a trip to your dealer.

I would take the pod out again and check that you've not bent any pins on the connectors and then put it back in making sure the connectons are ok.

You say that you were trying to fix an LED, does that mean that you were inside the pod? Could you have damaged something else?

Thanks everyone. I took the pod out again this morning and I think the right-hand multi-plug hadn't seated fully down. It's starting now!

The only fault i'm left with is an illuminated airbag light. Do I need VAG COM to extinguish this light, or is there annother way??

Many thanks once again.

VAG-COM will clear an airbag light as long as there isn't a problem causing it.

There is a thread called vag-com map where you may find someone local to you who will help you out., have a search for it
